Like me, you may be surprising encouraged to to find that after 6 months, nearly have of those who have made a resolution stick with it! While only 4% who did not make a resolution are still successful in keeping it.

So, this begs the question what are your goals for the year ahead? Have you thought about this yet? Proverbs 20:18 tells us this: ¹⁸ Plans are established by seeking advice; so, if you wage war, obtain guidance. Now hopefully you’re not seeking war in your life, but the main emphasis here is that plans are established by seeking advice. Some here’s some general advice to get you started when making plans (and or resolutions) for 2023:

God’s plans for your life should be based on His Will. 2. God’s plans for your life should be based on His Word. And 3. God’s plans for your life should be based on His Will his Work. This sounds simply, but let’s briefly break these components apart.

1. God’s plans for your life should be based on His Will.

Regarding God’s will, God knows what is best for your life! It’s not that making plans are wrong, but ultimately, your plans have to be committed to Christ. We read in James 4:¹³ Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” ¹⁴ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. ¹⁵ Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.

2. God’s plans for your life should be based on His Word.

Next base your plans on God’s word! We’re told in Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” God knows the best path for you and your family and your future. Will you trust Him and look to His word for guidance?

3. God’s plans for your life should be based on His Will his Work. This sounds simply, but let’s briefly break these components apart.

Finally, your plans should be based on God’s Work. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us: “¹¹ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

As we enter 2023, God has amazing plans for your life. He has a great purpose for you, He designed you with a specific task just for you!
